This is not only SUV’s first Mardi Gras, but also his first overseas exhibition. In general, his artworks are of excellent quality and both the pieces exhibited here are beautifully done. The first is an image of a combination of candy and a male nude. The innocence of his work, bringing together these two seemingly […]
A young artists taking gay art well into the realm of fine-art is Yuichi Shinohara. In his early 20’s, Shinohara is currently still an art school grad-student. With a basis in his own sexuality, Shinohara creates both 2D and 3D works which defy boundaries and present a refreshing sense of freedom.
Along with his new artwork, Mr. Tagame has also released six original drawings selected from of his comic works to be sold at our exhibition. Being offered at a very reasonable price, these works are most definitely a “must-have” for any comic collector.
Unfortunately Yujiro was not able to complete a new work in time for our exhibition, but instead he plans to release two works previously exhibited in Japan. Yujiro’s appeal lies in the rough brush stokes of his male portraits. Among the many comic-style artists we represent, Yujiro is a definite boon. He was recently featured […]
New Mardi Gras Work #27 Gengoroh Tagame?Part 1 Gengoroh Tagame is one of the “Big Three” in the world of Japanese gay art who cannot be ignored. Along with Jiraiya and Hideki Koh, his fame and popularity, along with his technique cannot be faulted. This is the first in a series of new works he […]
Kenya Shimizu has completed a second work for us, just in time! Along with the work I previously introduced, this painting by Shimizu is both moving and involving. This could even be called the evolution of the samurai. Along with his painted works, Kenya Shimizu has also created a series of Billy dolls and tattooed […]
Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures, but I’m happy to say that our opening was an outstanding success! Thank you so much to everyone who could make it to the party to celebrate with us. I didn’t have a chance to speak with everyone… I’m usually very shy and retiring but with a little […]
Kei Otani is also making his Mardi Gras début. His works were a complete sell-out at our exhibitions last year and he’s delivered more of the same cute pop-style, macho guys. His previous works were unmistakably cute but this time he’s shown us something slightly different. I think we can expect a lot more to […]
A new original work completed by Kuro Nohara, the artist famous for the gay manga “MILK”. The work, completed in acrylics and coloured pencil shows Nohara’s delicate pastel world. This is the only work being exhibited by Nohara at this exhibition, but the patterns made by the three male figures certainly have a sense of […]
Our opening party for the “Do You Like Men?” exhibition starts today at 6pm. If you have the chance, please come along! Wine and canapes will be provided. I usually only communicate with all of our customers via the web, so please come up and say hello in person. I’ve been told that I don’t […]
