NEW ARTIST: SUV

Following a recommendation from another artist, I thought I’d introduce a new artist, SUV. For the past few years he hasn’t been working in the gay magazine world and so he’s been able to draw what he likes, releasing his own dojinshi (coterie magazines) online and has continued to gain popularity in the gay comic world. His works can only be ordered on-demand from his website, but he’s becoming quite well known among local fan circles. SUV draws the daily lives of young gay guys, and his pictures have that casual sweet appeal. He’s one of the new artists we’ll be featuring at the up-coming Sydney Mardi Gras exhibition.

Bio: Born in 1986, SUV opened his personal website “SUVWEB” in 2004. Most of his work is based on line, selling illustrations and web comics. He published his first illustration in Badi magazine in 2005. From 2010 he has contributed as an illustrator to the Aichi prefectural gay and bisexual health support group “HaaT Ehime”. In 2011 he participated in a number of group exhibitions including “Banquet of Cherry Blossoms” and “Banquet of Fire Flowers”. In October of the same year he also launched his own solo exhibition, “Lost Virgin” in Yokohama, Osaka and Aichi and intends to keep on exhibiting in the future.

Artist’s comments: I always enjoy the subjects that I depict. I hope the enjoyment that I feel is passed on to the audiences who see my works. I hope that in the future, even more people will see and enjoy my works.
