Makoto Kai(Born 1979)
Makoto Kai was awarded the major prize for Furukawa Shobo’s first Male Art Prize. Subsequently he published artworks and illustrations for featured fiction in both G-Men and SM-Z magazines and was featured as the cover artist for 5 volumes of SUPER SM-Z . Following this Kai has continued work mainly on his own manga. His versatility means that his characters range from stocky and chubby types to slender and beautiful boys and even geeks. The content of his works also cover a wide range of styles from highly aesthetic to shocking SM. His more aesthetic works, depicting the stoic spirit of the samurai, evoke the feelings of traditional woodblock artists such as Hōnen.
Before publishing under the name Makoto Kai, the artist was also published in Barazoku magazine under the name Makoto Kikai and in a number of independent magazines under other names.
